So how did this go down?

Yeah, well, funny story actually...

Imagine this setting: there are about a gazillion billion Chinese people who are really, really angry about something a certain friend of yours said and imagine said friend has a website or two on your own server.

Now add a botnet to the mix having enough zombies to either consume all your bandwith or destroy your harddisk to a level where all data is corrupted and unreadable. One of these things happened and I'm afraid it's the one that's the most damaging to your business.

For the really absolutely painful part, add a webmaster such as er... myself? You know the type, the type who doesn't believe in backups outside of the server.

This lovely mix of events and people adds up to having RandomBase lost completely. Shit's messed up.

There aren't a lot of words to describe my own level of stupidity nor the level of stupidity of this friend. Obviously I've learned a hard lesson here and it won't keep me down, I have some file backups left so the super secret project I was working on isn't lost completely. Stuff such as Ascizer and dencoder is still around somewhere too but don't exactly have priority to be fixed.

So yeah, pretty messed up situation.

... but we'll be back
